Canadian Anti-Spam (CASL) Policy

July 2, 2026 · Last Updated: September 10, 2026

TL;DR (Canada)

When we send commercial electronic messages (email, SMS) to recipients in Canada, we comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL): we send with consent, identify ourselves, and give you an easy way to unsubscribe. This complements our SMS & Communications Policy (which also covers U.S. CAN-SPAM and TCPA).

1. Consent

We send commercial electronic messages (CEMs) only with express or implied consent as defined by CASL. Express consent is obtained when you opt in (for example, request a quote or subscribe). Implied consent may apply from an existing business relationship, within the periods CASL allows.

2. Identification

Every CEM identifies the sending Interlock entity and includes valid contact information (a mailing address and an email, phone, or URL) valid for at least 60 days.

3. Unsubscribe

Every CEM includes a working unsubscribe mechanism (an email link, or reply STOP for SMS) processed within 10 business days, at no cost to you.

4. Records

We maintain records of consent and unsubscribe requests as evidence of compliance.

5. Relationship to U.S. Law

For U.S. recipients, commercial email is governed by the CAN-SPAM Act (15 U.S.C. § 7704) and the FTC's rule (16 CFR Part 316). Every commercial email we send:

  • uses accurate header, "From," and reply-to information and a subject line that reflects the content
  • identifies itself as an advertisement where the message is promotional and you have not already agreed to receive our marketing
  • includes our valid physical postal address
  • contains a clear unsubscribe link or reply address that works for at least 30 days after sending and asks nothing more of you than a reply or a visit to a single web page — no fee, no login, no other information (16 CFR § 316.5)
  • stops within 10 business days after you unsubscribe; we never sell or transfer an unsubscribed address

Emails that only confirm an appointment, deliver a quote you requested, or provide warranty or account information are transactional and may be sent without an unsubscribe link, but they still carry accurate headers. Text messages to U.S. numbers are governed by the TCPA; see our SMS & Communications Policy. Where CAN-SPAM and CASL both apply, we follow the stricter rule.
